For the rest of this season, we will have 3 stages in total. For the season 2011/2012 we will have 5 stages for the adults and at least 2 stages for juniors.

Regulations of the competition


 


1.       The aims and goals


1.1.       Ascertain the Latvian Badminton Federation’s “Grand Prix 2011” (hereafter – LBF) champions and winners of men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles A and B groups;


1.2.       Popularization and development of badminton in Latvia;


1.3.       Attract new badminton players; facilitate growth of players’ skills and mass by organizing competitions in Riga as well as in the regions;


1.4.       Establish communication between badminton players from other cities and countries;


2.       Event Management


The competition is organized and chaired by the LBF panel of judges.


3.                                  The place and time of the event.


3.1.                            Competition comprises 3 stages:


3.1.1.          1st stage – Riga (8.-9.01.2011), Olympic Sports Centre, 6b Grostonas St.


3.1.2.          2nd stage Riga (19.-20.03.2011),Olympic Sports Centre,6b Grostonas St.


3.1.3.           3rd stage – Valmiera (28.-29.05.2011)


3.2.                            Competition organizers and phone numbers to obtain information:

3.3.                            The Beginning of the competition: 08.01. at 3:00 p.m.(MS, WS), 09.01. At 10.00 a.m. (MS, WS) more precise information will be available in the game tables one day before the competition.


4.                                  Contestants


4.1.            Any athlete who is at least 12 years old, has paid the entry fee, purchased the LBF player`s license and ensured the enforcement of regulations can take part in the competition;


4.2.            The competition is held in 10 nominations (singles, doubles for women, men and mixed doubles A and B groups).


4.3.            The competition is an open tournament in which foreign players are included in the total evaluation table;


4.4.            Commanding organization, player themselves, or a person accompanying the participant is responsible for the player’s state of health.


5.                                  Applications


5.1.            The registration deadlines are as follows:
For the 1st stage by 5.01.2011.  12.00 P.M.
For the 2nd stage by 14.03.2011. 12.00 P.M.
For the 3rd stage by 24.05.2011. 12.00 P.M.


5.2.            Players in the application must include their name, surname, the club represented (or place of residence) and the license number, as well as the gaming categories they would like to enter;

5.4.            The cancellation of the application can be made by 10 AM on the day before the tournament; shall a registered participant without any cancellations fail to turn up for a match, a charge equal to that of the membership fee will need to be paid in order to enter competitions in the future.    


6.                                  The competition order and inventory are as follows:


6.1.             The order of the competition is determined by the referee, depending on the number of participants applied; The competition is held on the playoff basis (at least 3 games for each participant), or in 2 rounds where the1st round is a group tournament but the 2nd round takes the form of a playoff;


6.2.            The competition is held according to the rules of BWF (Badminton World Federation);


6.3.            Feathered shuttlecocks are to be used, however, by arranging prior to the tournament, nylon shuttlecocks can be allowed;


6.4.            Participants whose shoes may damage the flooring will not be allowed to enter the competition;


6.5.            Participants’ sportswear should be suitable for badminton and include a pair of shorts and a Tshirt preferably of the same color.


6.6.            Participants must arrive an hour prior to the beginning of the game;



 


7.                                  Disqualification (penalty):


7.1.            The competition committee of judges may disqualify a player, if they:


·         Repeatedly violate the rules of the game or competition regulations;


·         Intentionally rectify result which has been submitted to the secretariat;


·         Intentionally lose the game;


·         Make deals with other players regarding the result of their game;


·         Seriously impede the match;


·         Match intoxicated;


·         Disturb competition or damage any equipment at the place of competition;


7.2.            Shall a player withdraw from the tournament, the remaining games will be credited with the loss of W.O;


7.3.            Shall a player withdraw from the tournament in-between the group matches and the playoff games, another player cannot replace them;


7.4.            A failure to turn up for a match will result in player’s loss as W.O;


7.5.            The participation fee is not refundable for players who withdraw or get excluded from the competition.


8.                                  Appeals


8.1.            All appeals must be lodged to the referee straight after the game;


8.2.            The referee at the place of competition without pledge contributions considers appeals.


9.                                  The competition judges


9.1.            The competition is run by the LBF panel of judges;


9.2.            The referee takes the responsibility to ensure a quality control on refereeing;


9.3.            Judges’ decisions during the competition are final and cannot be  challenged on the players’ hand;


9.4.            Suitability of the inventory used for playing is determined by the referee;


9.5.            In the event that a dispute occurs during a match, the referee settles it by consulting with the assistant judges.


10.                              Determination of the winner


10.1.        The points that players score depend on the place they take in each stage( see the appendix for scoring system)


10.2.        In case tow or more players score an equal amount of points, the place awarded is determined by comparing players’ results of each stage of the competition, and the higher the place taken in the last stage, the higher the overall place;


10.3.        All stages of the competition are taken into consideration when awarding any places;


11.                              Awards
The winners of each stage are awarded certificates while the overall winners obtain cups and complimentary prizes as well.


12.                              Financial obligations


12.1.        The competition entry fee is covered by the players themselves;


12.2.        Participation fees are as follows:


– LVL 4 per player for a singles match;


– LVL 2 per player for doubles and mixed doubles matches;


12.3.        If a player fails to satisfy the financial obligations, they cannot enter the competition;
